1961
The Beginning of a Culinary Passion
Born in Kutch, Gujarat, Mr. Chandu Gala had a natural gift from an early age. He was like a "culinary laboratory," able to identify every ingredient and its exact proportion in any dish with just one taste. This remarkable talent became the foundation of his lifelong mastery over spices and flavour craftsmanship.
1975
A New Chapter in Mumbai
Driven by ambition and a desire to grow, Mr. Gala moved to Mumbai in 1975 in search of greater opportunities. Surrounded by the city’s rich and diverse food culture, he immersed himself deeper into the world of spices, refining both his palate and technical understanding of traditional Indian masalas.
1985
A Drive for Quality
A decade later, while observing the market, Mr. Gala noticed a troubling trend: many commercial brands were compromising on quality by using inferior ingredients and cheap fillers like onion and garlic powders to bulk up their products. Determined to change this, he set out to create spice blends that focused on purity and authentic flavor instead of shortcuts.
As the spice market expanded, Mr. Gala observed an alarming shift in quality standards. Many commercial brands had begun compromising authenticity by using low-grade ingredients and fillers such as onion and garlic powders to to bulk up their products and reduce costs. Determined to change this, he set out on a mission to create masalas rooted in purity, authenticity, and honest flavour — blends that respected tradition instead of diluting it.

Turning Passion into Purpose
In 1991, Mr. Gala transformed his vision into reality by crafting and selling his own homemade premium masalas in Mumbai. Built on traditional methods, carefully sourced spices, and uncompromising quality, his blends quickly earned the trust of families who valued authenticity and consistency in their kitchens. Over time, his masalas became known not just for taste, but for integrity.
2012
The Vadodara Milestone
After more than two decades of expertise and customer trust, Mr. Gala moved operations to Vadodara, Gujarat in 2012 — marking the official beginning of Galaji Masala. The brand was established with a clear purpose: to preserve the heritage of authentic Indian spice-making while meeting the needs of modern, health-conscious consumers.
2026 & Beyond
