How to Make Black Dal Bukhara Masala at Home (Step-by-Step)
Ingredients
  • Coriander seeds
  • Chilli

  • Salt & Spices all in dry powder form

Method
  • Soak 1 cup whole black urad dal overnight.
  • Pressure cook with salt and a big piece of ginger until the dal is completely soft and starting to burst.
  • Mash some of the dal against the sides of the pot to release the starch.
  • Add 1 cup of cooked tomato puree and 2 tbsp Galaji Black Dal Bukhara Masala.
  • Add a generous "white" layer—1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup fresh cream. his is the key.
  • Let the dal simmer on the lowest possible heat for at least 30-45 minutes (stirring occasionally) until it turns deep, dark chocolate brown and creamy.
  • Adjust salt and finish with a final dollop of butter.
  • Serve with Tandoori Roti or Naan.
  • For Onion/Garlic Lovers: Sauté 1 tsp of finely minced garlic in butter until it just starts to turn golden before adding the tomato puree and cooked dal.
