Ingredients
- Coriander seeds
- Chilli
- Lentils
- Turmeric
- Dry mango
- Ginger
- Mustard seeds
- Fenugreek seeds
- Cumin seeds
- Black pepper
- Sugar
- Salt & Spices all in dry powder form
- Contain Cottonseed oil
Method
- Pressure cook 1 cup of Toor Dal with peanuts, dry dates (optional), and a pinch of turmeric.
- Whisk until very smooth and watery.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil/ghee.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin, a few fenugreek seeds, and a sprig of curry leaves.
- Stir in 1.5 tbsp Galaji Gujarati Dal Masala.
- Add the cooked dal, and the essential Gujarati duo: a piece of jaggery (sweet) and kokum or lemon juice (sour).
- Add 1 small chopped tomato.
- Let the dal boil vigorously for 10-12 minutes; the more it boils, the better the flavors meld.
