Ingredients
- Coriander seeds
- Red chilli
- Turmeric
- Cumin seeds
- Mustard seeds
- Fenugreek seeds
- Green chilli
- Lentils
- Black pepper
- Fennel seeds
- Tamarind
- Lemon powder
- Salt & Spices all in dry powder form
- Contain Cottonseed oil
Method
- Pressure cook 1 cup of Toor Dal (Arhar) with a pinch of turmeric until mushy.
- Whisk it well.
- Heat 2 tbsp mustard oil (recommended for the "achari" feel) or ghee.
- Add a pinch of mustard seeds and whole dried red chilies.
- Add 2 chopped green chilies.
- Stir in 1.5 tbsp Galaji Achari Dal Masala.
- Sauté for 30 seconds (don't let the spices burn).
- Pour this tempering over the cooked dal.
- Add a splash of water if it's too thick and bring to a boil.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and a tiny bit of lemon juice to enhance the tang.
- For Onion/Garlic Lovers: Sauté 1 medium chopped onion and 1 tsp crushed garlic in the oil until the onions are golden-brown before adding the Achari Masala
