How to Make Dal Fry - Tadka Masala at Home (Step-by-Step)
Ingredients
  • Coriander seed
  • Turmeric
  • Red chilli
  • Cumin seeds
  • Green chilli
  • Lentils
  • Black pepper
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt & Spices all in dry powder form
  • Contain Cottonseed oil
Method
  • Pressure cook 1 cup of Toor Dal (Arhar) or Moong Dal with salt and turmeric until soft.
  • Whisk it to a smooth consistency.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil/ghee in a pan.
  • Add 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes.
  • Sauté until mushy.
  • Stir in 1.5 tbsp Galaji Dal Fry - Tadka Masala.
  • Add the cooked dal and a little water.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • For the authentic experience, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a small tempering ladle.
  • Add a pinch of cumin and 2 dried red chilies.
  • Once they crackle, add a tsp of the masala, turn off the heat immediately, and pour it over the dal.
  • Cover the pot for 2 minutes to trap the smoky aroma.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander.
  • For Onion/Garlic Lovers: Sauté 1 medium finely chopped onion and 1 tsp garlic paste in the first tadka until golden brown before adding the tomatoes.
