Ingredients
- Coriander seed
- Turmeric
- Red chilli
- Cumin seeds
- Green chilli
- Lentils
- Black pepper
- Curry leaves
- Salt & Spices all in dry powder form
- Contain Cottonseed oil
Method
- Pressure cook 1 cup of Toor Dal (Arhar) or Moong Dal with salt and turmeric until soft.
- Whisk it to a smooth consistency.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil/ghee in a pan.
- Add 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes.
- Sauté until mushy.
- Stir in 1.5 tbsp Galaji Dal Fry - Tadka Masala.
- Add the cooked dal and a little water.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- For the authentic experience, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a small tempering ladle.
- Add a pinch of cumin and 2 dried red chilies.
- Once they crackle, add a tsp of the masala, turn off the heat immediately, and pour it over the dal.
- Cover the pot for 2 minutes to trap the smoky aroma.
- Garnish with fresh coriander.
- For Onion/Garlic Lovers: Sauté 1 medium finely chopped onion and 1 tsp garlic paste in the first tadka until golden brown before adding the tomatoes.
