Method
- Combine 1 cup of rice and ½ cup of Toor dal (Arhar dal) with 4 cups of water and a pinch of turmeric. Cook until very soft (about 4–5 whistles).
- In a separate pan, heat 1 tsp oil. Add chopped vegetables (beans, carrots, peas, and double beans). Sauté for 2–3 minutes.
- Optional: Add 10-12 pearl onions (Sambar onions) and sauté until translucent. Skip this for the No Onion No Garlic version.
- Add 2 tbsp of Galaji Bisi Bele Bhath Masala and 2 tbsp of tamarind pulp to the vegetables (Optional).
- Add 1 cup of water and salt; simmer until the veggies are cooked. Serve piping hot with a dollop of ghee and Khara Boondi or potato chips on the side.
